The Girl Scouts of Central Texas held their emergency preparedness badge earning event at the Harker Heights Library and Activities Center June 8th...but with a little twist. They did it as zombies!

Dozens of scouts in troops from across the Killeen, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove and Nolanville area arrived early to the library to get painted and dressed up as zombies. Then afterwards take a stroll through one of half a dozen emergency preparedness stations.

Each station, some even led by Harker Heights firefighters, had information on things like emergency food safety, water collection, shelter building and emergency contacts.  After visiting each station the girls would get a stamp on a card to indicate that they met the requirements to earn their emergency preparedness badge.
